Capt. Ricky Carl Jent, born June 25,1954, died on September 9, 2014 at home in Cudjoe Key, Florida after a brave battle with melanoma. His wife, Peggy, his dog Sara, and Pat Carter were at his side. He was the son of Roy and Margaret Jent of New Castle. Rick graduated from CHS in 1972 and worked for Alleghenyfor 30 years. He married Peggy Anderson in 1974 and they celebrated their 40th anniversary this July. In 2003, they retired to live his dream in Cudjoe Key, as overseers of a property owned by dear friends, Dr. Richard and Diana Foster. He was a fisherman, hunter, camper, motorcyclist, dive instructor, gun enthusiast, union member, and lover of dogs. He achieved his Master Captain’s license after moving south and owned a trawler aptly named, “a dog’s life”, which is what boating life felt like to him. Rick and Peggy lived on their boat this past winter and had hoped to do The Great Loop someday. He made many special friends throughparties, diving, boating, and motorcycling. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy and father in law, William Anderson. He is survived by his wife, Peggy and his mother, Margaret; aunts, Marilyn Bowman, Linda Guffey; uncles, James Rhodus (Janet), Wilbur Cross (Sue) and many cousins. Also, his mother in law, Dee Anderson, sister in laws, Pat Carter (Sonny), Paula Conarroe (Tim), Brother in laws Bill Anderson, James Anderson (Paula) and nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Sara. There is a celebration of life in Cudjoe Key on September 14. A memorial service will be at 4:00 PM on October 1st at Marcum Funeral Home in New Castle. Calling will be from 1:00 to 4:00 PM.
