Clarence H. "Sparky" New age 85 went to be with the Lord Wednesday Sept. 30, 2009 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by his family and loved ones.
He was born in Warriormine, West Virginia on January 28, 1924 to Hester and Nannie New.
Served in the United States Navy during WWII, participated in the Normandy Invasion and was in Time Square at the end of the war.
Retired from Ingersol Steele Corp in 1980 after which he and Edith spent many wonderful winters in Florida among many close friends.
He was also an avid gardener, wood worker, carver, and fan of Author Louis L’Amour. Attended the North Christian Church in Mooreland, a member of the Moose Lodge and Raintree Carvers. Survived by his loving wife of 65 years Edith, brother Raymond (Jeanie) Waddell of New Castle, sister Christine Brown. Children: Connie (Tom) Thomas of New Castle, David New of Tennessee, Jan (Dennis) Hedrick of Tennessee and Jay and June French of New Castle. 7 grandsons Ryan and Cory Thomas, Nick and Nathan New, Joshua, Jeremy and Matthew Plane. 5 great grandchildren Scott, Krista, Caitlyn, and Lillie Plane and Noah New. Several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be Monday October 5, 2009 at 10 AM at Marcum Community Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Riley will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mooreland Cemetery. Friends may call Sunday October 4, 2009 from 2-5 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to the North Christian Church in Mooreland envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.marcumfuneralhome.com. So sorry for your loss. I only knew Mr. New for a short time but he seemed to be a person who liked people and enjoyed talking. If there is anything I can do please call on me. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to learn of your loss. I remember Sparky as a happy guy, very proud of his family. Ironically it has been just one year since Bob died suddenly. May your memories sustain you.
