Bruce Barrett age 88 of New Castle passed away Tuesday July 15, 2008 at his home.
He was a big fan of the Kentucky Wildcats and Cincinnati Reds. Bruce was born in Owsley County, Kentucky August 26, 1919, the son of the late George and Jennie Virginia Lynch Barrett. He served in the Pacific during WWII. He came to New Castle in 1948 and hired in to the Chrysler Corp. He retired from Chrysler July 31, 1981 with 33 years service. He was also a member of the UAW.
Survived by his wife Darleen Spencer Barrett, a son Michael Scott (wife Lisa) Barrett of Carol Stream, Ill. Daughter Jennifer Rebecca (husband Minor) Mobley of New Castle and grandson Ethan Mobley, step grandchildren Lilly Mobley, Amber Marie Wadsworth, Paul Eugene Baker, several great grandchildren, a sister Marie Martin of Cincinnati, OH., and a brother Virgil Barrett of Tampa, Florida.
Preceded in death by his parents, a brother Hershall Barrett and step son Robert Eugene Baker.
Services will be Thursday July 17, 2008 at 3 PM at Marcum Community Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Lisbon Cemetery. Rev. Monty Vincent will be officiating. Friends may call Thursday 12-3 PM at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.marcumfuneralhome.com
