Vela Swim age 76 of New Castle passed away Saturday April 17, 2010 at Glen Oaks Health Campus.
She was born May 7, 1933 in Monticello, Kentucky the daughter of the late Everett and Pearl B. Koger Kidd. She was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, reading and fishing.
She is survived by her daughter Sandra (James) Davenport of New Castle, son Donald Swim of Ft. Wayne, 4 grandchildren James (Tia), Davenport of Springport, Pam Hubbard of New Castle, Alicia Swim of Kentucky, Robert Swim of New Castle, 5 great grandchildren, brother Larry (Bonnie) Kidd of Texas, 2 sisters Mary Sidwell of New Castle, Jennie Daffron of New Castle.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Swim, sisters Betty, Irene and Neva.
Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday April 20, 2010 at Marcum Community Funeral Home. Rev. Stephen Gallaway will be officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. My thoughts and prayers are with Vela's family. I have many good memories of times spent at the Swim home on New Lisbon Pike during my Junior High Years. I have not forgotten the Swim family, Mike, Sandy, and little brother Donnie. The years have too quickly escaped us.
