Barbara Jean Duncan age 74 of New Castle passed from this life into the arms of Jesus after a courageous fight against cancer Sunday May 23, 2010 at her home.
She was born October 8, 1935 in New Castle, Indiana the daughter of the late Ody and Alice Duvall Bledsoe. She worked at Top Hat for many years also Wal-Mart. She was a member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary.
She is survived by 1 daughter Rev. Linda Sue (Rev. Dennis) Edwards of Mt. Zion, Illinois and 1 son Joey Allen (Sue) Lawson of Decatur, Illinois. 5 grandchildren Travis (Goldie) Edwards of Decatur, Illinois, Summer Lawson (Steve Ewing) of Decatur, Illinois, Derek Lawson (Amber Warner) of Decatur, Illinois, Brandin Lawson of Decatur, Illinois, Kailey Lawson of Decatur, Illinois, Brysen Lawson of Decatur, Illinois. 7 Great grandchildren: Dalton and Dakota Ewing, Javin and Jaren Lawson, Keith Chapman, Ashley Edwards, Trevor Edwards. 2 sisters Joyce (John) Elmore of New Castle, Wanda Denney of New Castle, 1 brother William Bledsoe of Stewartson, Illinois. Several special nieces and nephews. Special friend Terri (Nate) Hamilton.
Preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother Donald Bledsoe, 1 daughter Karen Jean Lawson.
Services will be Thursday May 27, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Marcum Community Funeral Home. Rev. Dennis Edwards and Rev. Linda Edwards will be officiating. Burial will follow in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM Thursday prior to service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made at www.marcumfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
I am very sorry to hear of the loss of Bobbie. I recall many a Thanksgiving at the Elmore household in which she brightened up a room with her charm and zest for life. I will remember her and those times fondly. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers. God bless.
