Joseph “Joe” Overton age 69 passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 4:50am following a long hard fought battle with agent orange. Joe had served in the U.S Army Combat 1st Infantry Division during the Vietnam Conflict and was also a tank specialist. After an honorable discharge Joe returned home where he met and married the love of his life Georgia Littrell and remained her faithful husband for more than 48 years. Joe worked for Chrysler Corp. and retried after 32 years of service. His favorite life long hobby was wood working. He enjoyed making toys, picture frames, and various gifts for family and friends throughout the years. When his health permitted he also enjoyed bicycling, and driving around the countryside. Joe would often say “do for the living while they are living”, so the family has asked that donations be made to the Indy Honor Flight in lieu of flowers. This organization is run by volunteers who donate their time and skills to fly and escort even the frailest of Indiana vets to D.C. where they visit the war memorials. Many receive gratitude that they never received when they came home. Joe had wanted to go himself but was not able to go. Now it is your turn to “do for the living while they are living” and choose to help send Indiana American Vets on a memorable trip by making donations to the Indy Honor Flight.

Survivors include his wife Georgia Littrell Overton, son Joseph Wayne Overton (wife Kimberly), their daughters Hannah and Faith Overton, daughter Heidi Gray, and her son Joseph Michael Gray. Brother-in-law Jay Tee Littrell (wife Rita), sister-in-laws Tamara (husband Ned) Giddings, their children Micah (wife Kameron) Giddings, Jeremy (wife Laura) Giddings, Abigail Giddings, sister-in-law Lee Ann (husband Tony) Hill and their daughter Laura Hill. Sister-in-law Mary Logan (husband Joey) and their daughter Britney (boyfriend Eric Laurie). Nieces Lydia Haze Littrell (boyfriend Mike Sayer), and Charlie Overton’s daughters Bonnie, Elizabeth, and Janie.

Preceded in death by his parents, Oliver and Leatha O. Overton, brother Charles Overton and wife Shirley, mother and father in law James and Betty Razor Littrell, brother-in-law James Bruce Littrell, sister-in-law Vera Maxine Littrell.
