Gary R. Tower, age 77 of New Castle entered into eternal life with his heavenly Father, Thursday, March 29, 2018 at IU Ball Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 26, 1940 in New Castle the son of the late Curtis Robert and Bernice Louise Baty Tower. Gary graduated from New Castle High School in 1958 before joining the United States Army. He worked for ABB/Westinghouse and Tres-ABB before retiring after 43 years. He was a member of the New Covenant Worship Center where he served as an usher, greeter, and Connect Group leader. He enjoyed woodworking, watching old movies with Deb, family trips to Kentucky, Tennessee and fishing trips to Wisconsin.
He is survived by his wife of 39years, 4 months the former Deborah Poe, whom he married November 22, 1978. 3 children Chris (wife Peggy) Tower of Sulphur Springs, Robert (wife Marnie) Tower of Crawfordsville, Anita (husband Robert) Hamblin of Anderson, grandchildren Brandon (wife Jessica), Matthew, Benjamin, Elizabeth, Samantha, and Febie. 2 great grandchildren Adrien and Nash. Sisters Cheryl Landreth (husband DeWayne) and Yvonne Tower. Brothers and sisters by marriage Stephen and Thomas Poe, Susan (husband Bruce) Bilby and Marla Asberry. Many greatly loved nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents and in-laws Floyd and Rosemary Poe.
Services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at 1pm at the New Covenant Worship Center in New Castle. Pastor Eric Haler, Pastor Tom Preble, and Rev. Haley Asberry will be officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Summit Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 4-8pm at the New Covenant Worship Center.
