Edna Ann (Randle-Clapp) Portell, age 83, of New Castle joined her heavenly family Monday, October 23, 2017 at Heritage House of New Castle, where she spent the last 3 months of her life enjoying wonderful times with new friends and loving awesome caregivers.
Edna was born March 11, 1934 to the late Lloyd Wayne Randle and Anna Bethel (Scolley) Randle in Frankfort, Indiana. She lived most of her life in the New Castle, Winchester area.
Edna retired after many years of a nursing career starting at the State Hospital in New Castle, IN., to several nursing homes and home care facilities. Along with the countless times of nursing family.
She was an avid reader, gardener, quilter and loved crocheting for enjoyment, and making gifts for friends and family. She lived life to the fullest. Always giving of knowledge and advice with a sharp tongue, a joke full of spice. A love for family and life that was unending.
Survived by three sons: Charles (Dana Clapp), Paul Clapp, Brian Clapp, five daughters Vivian (Jackie) Morgan, Janet Crabtree, Carolyn Harris, Jerri Moran, Debra (Gary) Hamby. Three brothers Wayne Randle, Robert (Pat) Randle, Larry (Pat) Randle, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband William G. Portell, the father of her nine children Charles M. Clapp, son Terry A. Clapp, infant brother Gordon Randle, 4 grandsons Brian Scott Moran, Joshua Paul Clapp, Michael Allen Hammond, Michael McQueary, one granddaughter Tonya Renee Crutcher, one great grandson Sonny Criswell, sister-in-law Betty Randall, two son-in-laws Curtis P. Jones and Jackie Crabtree.
Services will be Friday at 2pm at Marcum Community Funeral Home. Rev. Larrel Boling will be officiating. Burial will follow in Hillsboro Cemetery.
